TGN x The Illustrated Watch Firefighting Shirt
By now we’re all no doubt familiar with the devastation caused by wildfires in Southern California. Countless homes and properties destroyed, and thousands of lives upended and irreversibly affected. We’re also seeing acts of tremendous bravery by tireless firefighters and other first responders who go into these fires, putting themselves in great peril to try to save homes, and rescue people.
One of our own TGN listeners, Jon Owata, is a Twin Cities area firefighter and, feeling the need to do something, approached us with an idea: create a special edition T-shirt to sell in the TGN Shop, with proceeds to be donated to a worthy relief agency in California. In turn, Jon worked with Tony Lane (The Illustrated Watch) to design a shirt for us, and with Asha Wagner, a Northern California-based firefighter who has experience with wildland firefighting to identify a suitable organization to which we could donate.
The result is the TGN x The Illustrated Watch Firefighting T-shirt. It starts with the same navy blue cotton shirt we use for our Punched Out T, but features a special logo, designed by Tony, that leaves no doubt as to its purpose. In a nod to California, it adds the bear and star from the state’s flag in an adapted TGN logo.
100% of profits from the sale of this T-shirt will be donated to the California Fire Foundation. According to its website, the CFF “provides critical support to surviving families of fallen firefighters, firefighters, and the communities they serve. Your tax-deductible donation will help us commemorate fallen heroes, offer scholarships to children of fallen firefighters, provide aid to victims of fire or other natural disaster, and provide fire safety resources to underserved communities across California.”
